After all, this is LiveJournal -- and I'm pretty sure it's one of those footnote clauses in the user's agreement that once every ten posts or so, a picture of one's pet must appear. So here you go. One fat kitty in the sun, coming up.

For the rest of this morning's entry, I can only offer you hodge podge. It's an export day here at work, which probably means nothing to you; but to me, it means I won't be online much until later this afternoon (if at all).

On then, to the hodgepodge.
Congratulations to John! Scalzi, that is. He's just re-signed with Tor for another 3 books. A confetti of kudos upon his head, and a fervent wish that someday I might be likewise fortunate.

Hey, look. Nekkid WoW elves and such. (Probably NSFW) I bet this link gets clicked with greater fervor and regularity than anything else I post for the next month.

Not a flame war. (scroll down a little) See? It happens, sometimes. A conversation that consisted primarily of rational discourse, yet included a fundamental difference of opinion. I feel like I've spotted Bigfoot or something. (And the first jackass who hops that thread to get nasty will be cut off faster than a wart on a Hilton.)

New community, via Peg Kerr. I used to be a member of half a dozen feminist communities here on LJ, but I found them so angry, aggressive, and accusatory that I eventually dropped every last one of them. I couldn't post a damn thing -- not a comment, not an entry, nary an observation -- without some crazy thread of people attacking me for supporting the dominant patriarchy. They bat that phrase around like a badminton shuttle, but to paraphrase the immortal Inigo Montoya, "You keep saying those words. I do not think they mean what you think they do." So, what-the-hell-ever.

A shameless plug, posted for the book lover on your Christmas list. Because one day I want to be in John's happily re-contracted shoes, that's why. Christmas is right around the corner. So go on and check it out. It's been getting great reviews. I'm sure there's someone on your shopping list who would enjoy it, and there's still plenty of time to get the book signed and returned unto you for gift-giving purposes. I promise.

And that's all I've got for now. More later, as it comes to me. Have a good day at work, everyone.
