This is my longtime LJ-friend Peg. Peg is a writer with 2 (lots of fun to read about) little girls ... one of whom is just dying to go to Space Camp with 49 other great kids. Alas, fundraising has been merely moderate - and the requisite pool of $64,500 is $7300 away. Time is running out. They're already past due on the dough Space Camp should have received by now. Things are getting desperate. To further butter you up, here's a link to a handwritten appeal from Delia herself.

So seriously, y'all. Didn't you ever want to go to Space Camp? Donations accepted via paypal, and are tax deductible (this is organized by a nonprofit charity, Reach For The Stars). Click here for all the details.

Me and moriarty6 have been thrifting a lot over the last couple of days, and it's been pretty cool. Today, for five bucks, I scored a brand-new little black T-shirt with a tiger cartoon on it - which made me inordinately squeeful. Also nabbed a few other little t-shirts and such, and a fuzzy sweater to go over them when a hoodie just isn't cuddlesome enough. Hooray for cheap clothes and comfy black flats with little skulls/crossbones on them.

It's not like I needed the shoes or anything; but since (a). they were only a few bucks (secondhand) and (b). I walk everywhere here anyway, then one more pair of comfy black flats will always come in handy.

No, I don't have much to update about - since I already gave you a Silent Hill review.
Other than that, there's not much to report.

I don't have much (%#$#@% gas prices...........) but I gave a little, wish it could've been more. Man o man, I would've loved to go to space camp as a kid. Usually I give what I can to kitty causes, but dude... it's space camp. Seriously, that rocks. I hope they can make up the difference. They've gathered so much already, it'd be a shame for such a tiny amount (by comparision) to knock them out of the running.

I hear ya - that's kind of how I felt about it. To get so ... close (relatively). I kicked 'em ten bucks - though if I'd seen this earlier today, I might've passed on a t-shirt or two and sent more. Oh well. I link instead!

With your readership, a link could be worth quite a bit. Looking at the little girl and guessing her age, I can only imagine how excited I or my sister would've been to get to go. Totally a worthy cause, oh yea.

I don't need a new hat anyway.
*awh*
I'm such a sucker for little kids' and their handwritten notes.
It was the line "we have decided that either we all go, or no one will go" that clenched it.
I hope Delia (and friends) enjoy Space Camp.

Another small donation is on its way to Casa de Kerr.

("Kerr." Mayhap 'tis pronounced "care"?)

You know about Freecycle and Use It Again, Seattle? Free stuff of an immense variety.

Oh, and also clothing swaps. Several of my friends are in the habit of providing a gathering for people to drop off clothes they're bored with and pick up others' stuff. I think a lot of us haven't actually bought clothes in years...we just keep circulating stuff around the community until it falls apart. I'd be happy to pass along an invite if you're interested. I notice that a lot of the clothes tend to be inordinately large or inordinately small sizes, but there's usually at least some stuff in the middle.

If there's any household stuff you need in particular, let me know...I am going through the results of pooling households and having too much Stuff and we are giving a way a lot of things.
