a barrel of laughs
... but of great hilarity to me, is the following news story -- which occurred in Lynnwood, WA, not terribly far away from here. Because all the silly shit in the world does not happen down south, thank you very much.

Duck's rescuer hit by car driven by shoplifting suspect

A Lynnwood pet-store employee running to save a customer's duck from harm was struck by a car driven by a Seattle shoplifting suspect this morning, police said.

The 43-year-old Petco employee was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was being treated for a crushed ankle, said Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions.

    The duck wasn't hurt.

Well. I thought it was funny ...

OMG. You can't make this crap up. I've been to Lynnwood... and I can easily see this happening.

BTW, is it just me, or are pedestrians run down by cars in movies and TV shows incessantly these days? Any time a character steps even near a street, I brace my self for them to be flattened by A CAR SUDDENLY COMING FROM OUT OF NOWHERE.

that petco employee should get a HUGE reward - that is awesome!

and there was no literal killing-2-birds-with-one-car. even better!

I thought it was funny, too - and the irony, of course, is that the shoplifter/driver who hit her (and the duck's owner) was the passenger in the duck's owner's car. She dropped the duck when the open car door smacked her as he was trying to get away...

Some reporter probably spent their entire day trying not to fall out of their chair laughing while writing that story.

It's horrible and funny at once. Better than most of the news lately. :p

Well, maybe the duck can be a witness. Have they asked it to look at mugshots?

I think it would have been funnier if the duck was driving... or for a twist ending, you found out that the duck was ALSO a shoplifter!

No wonder I'm getting published, with great plot twists like that, huh?

Ok, that was weird
Just as I was reading this, two ducks, quacking madly, flew by my window.

Hmmm.
