I opted to go cemetery-visiting with my hand-dandy little guide. Unfortunately, my handy-dandy little guide was written twelve years ago — and things have been paved, mowed, and trimmed since the author used trails and trees as landmarks to find graves.

Even so, I found almost everyone I was looking for; and I can always go back. So click the link below. You’ll find pictures of the final resting places of Seattle’s early pioneers, as well as the graves of Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee.

As an aside, there’s a bench that faces the grave of the Lees. I sat on it for a little bit and snapped my pictures; and I watched as a whole flock of enormous crows circled and hollered above me, and in the trees around me.

It was kind of a “moment,” you know?

Naw, it wasn't creepy at all. It was almost heart-warming, in an oddball eldergoth fangirl kind of way.

LOL, the big fan here, the hubby, said, that's creepy.

Mind you, it was in a very reverent way.}:P

Okay at the risk of sounding like a complete narcissist, I have to say that second pic (the one with my name) was a bit unsettling. ;D

Thank you, Ms. Kat. It's a shame you missed our playdate, too! But next time? Ah, next time, we might get a little bit of trespassing in abandoned buildings going on ... heh heh heh...

Very nice photos!

The crows do love that cemetary, which is part of why I love it.

They really do! They're freakin' everywhere...

Ah, yes. Wonderful Mr. Lee. He went to my high school, along with Jimi Hendrix, and Quincy Jones.

Too bad they tore down the old (original) building last year. :(

One of my favorite cemeteries there.

Nice pics. It's always interesting to see who's visiting the graves of the famous. Seems like 2/3 times I'm at the Lees' graves, there's a small horde of very earnest-looking 16-20 year old martial arts students. Jimmy Hendrix's grave in Renton? Often a lot of tie-dye in evidence...

There were several couples there at the graves, yes -- half of them foreign. I waited until right before the cemetery closed, though, and then it was all but empty.

I had no idea Brandon and Bruce Lee were buried in Seatle. I will have to show my husband your pictures

Yup. Right down the street from me.

When I have those moments, I write poems about them... Especially when it has to do with crows (or sometimes blackbirds). They're one of those recurring figures in my childhood...

I guess you are familiar with the Association for Gravestone Studies (http://www.gravestonestudies.org/). I need to get a new copy of their bumpersticker, "I brake for old graveyards".

By the way, do you know any free-lance editors who would take on the work of a couple college students? Have no idea if it is any good, but they are willing to pay someone to check it out for them.

Oh yes. Lovely stuff, there.

As for editors, I don't know. It would frankly depend on what the college students could pay, probably. Going rates are anywhere between $30 and $50 an hour.

They seem to have the cash. The editors I know are either too busy or do not do fiction any more

Alas, that's mostly where I'm sitting, too. My freelance work isn't fiction, and the editors I know all work for tech companies -- and likewise don't work in fiction. I'm not sure what to tell you.
